Seminars
RFI has developed and offers the following seminars that have been designed to help rural firefighters maximize their operations:
Maximizing Rural Firefighting Operations
A 2-day (16-hr) seminar that focuses on how rural fire departments can deal with their specific problems to provide the fire and emergency services their specific service areas require, while maximizing the effectiveness and safety of limited resources and personnel.
Rural Firefighting Water Supply Operations
A 2-day (16-hr) seminar that focuses on helping rural fire departments: 1) identify the firefighting water supply needs within their service areas; 2) identifying and evaluating available water supplies; and 3) transporting water supplies from their sources to the fireground or emergency scene. This seminar consists of both classroom and practical application sessions that are predicated based on the specific needs identified by those sponsoring the seminar.
Water on Wheels (WOW) Operations
A 2-day (16-hr) seminar that focuses on maximizing water transport operations that rely on tank vehicles (i.e. tankers, tenders). This seminar consists of both classroom and practical application sessions that are predicated based on the specific needs identified by those sponsoring the seminar.
Maximizing Rural Pumper Operator Skills
A 2-day (16-hr) seminar that focuses on providing the rural pump operator the skills needed to deliver firefighting water supplies in the rural area. Unlike their urban counterparts, rural pump operators must be proficient in drafting operations, relay pumping operations, supplying tank vehicle (tanker/tender) fill sites, the use of portable pumps, and other specialized pumping operations used on the rural fireground or emergency scene. The major portion of this seminar is intended to be hands-on to ensure attendees receive the practical skills training they need. Attendees should already have experience at driving and operating fire department pumpers.
RFI Certificates are issued for seminar attendance.
